Grant, Maria Pollard

GRANT, Maria (Pollard), suffrage activist (b 1854, Quebec City; d 1937, Victoria). Dedicated to securing the vote for BC women, she circulated the first petition for the franchise in 1885 on behalf of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and almost every year thereafter presented a petition or led a delegation to the legislature.
