Gosnell, Richard Edward


GOSNELL, Richard Edward, journalist, public servant (b 1860, Lac Beauport, QC; d 1931). He came to BC in 1888 and worked as a reporter on the VANCOUVER News. He was secretary to the provincial Bureau of Information and the first provincial librarian. Later he was the first provincial archivist. In 1897 he prepared the original BC Year Book, an "encyclopedia of Provincial information," which became a standard source until after WWI.
