GARNER, Joe, logger, contractor (b 11 Feb 1909, Saltspring Island; d 27 Oct 1998, Nanaimo). He began LOGGING for his father when he was a youngster. Later he worked as a longshoreman and construction worker and owned a fleet of float planes and helicopters. He was an entertaining storyteller with a wide knowledge of BC, and in 1980 he was ready to publish his memoirs.
