Galloway

GALLOWAY, 43 km southeast of CRANBROOK, is a LOGGING community and a station on the CPR's Crowsnest branch and Hwy 3. It was named after a place in Scotland. The Galloway Lumber Co runs a SAWMILL and pole yard here and owns other mills in the area. Two early sawmill settlements, Hanbury and Manistee, flourished close by prior to WWI, but have since disappeared.
