Fort Steele


FORT STEELE Heritage Town is a reconstructed frontier settlement located at the junction of WILD HORSE CREEK and the KOOTENAY RIVER, 16 km northeast of CRANBROOK in the E KOOTENAY. The original settlement, Galbraith's Ferry, named after John and Robert Galbraith, sprang up during the GOLD RUSH to the area during 1863–66.
