FLEMING, Willie, football player (b 3 Feb 1939, Detroit). Among the best running backs to play Canadian FOOTBALL, he joined the BC LIONS in 1959 after growing up in Detroit and winning the US college Rose Bowl with the Univ of Iowa. By the time he retired in 1967 he had rewritten the Lions' record book and established himself as a CFL legend. He gained more than 1,000 yards in rushing and receiving for 7 straight seasons and in 1963 he recorded pro football's highest seasonal rushing average...
