Discovery Island


DISCOVERY ISLAND lies at the junction of HARO and JUAN DE FUCA straits east of VICTORIA. Capt E.G. Beaumont lived on the island from WWI until his death in 1967, sharing his property with a variety of youth organizations. He left 60 ha to the province and it was designated a MARINE PARK in 1972. The northern part of the island, which is named for George VANCOUVER's ship, is a FIRST NATIONS reserve.
