DISCOVERY was Capt George VANCOUVER's ship during his epic survey of the BC coastline from 1792 to 1794. Launched in England in 1789, it was 29 m long, weighed only 303 tonnes and carried a crew of 86, plus 14 marines. It sailed to the West Coast in company with the smaller Chatham.
