CLUTESI, George, writer, artist (b 1905, Port Alberni; d 27 Feb 1988, Victoria). A member of the Sheshaht Nation (NUU-CHAH-NULTH), he grew up on VANCOUVER ISLAND. He worked for 20 years as a pile driver; then, while convalescing from an injury, he took up drawing and writing. He was encouraged to draw by Emily CARR, who left him her artist's supplies when she died. He painted one of the murals at the Canada pavilion at Expo 67.
