Child Care Movement


CHILD CARE MOVEMENT in BC goes back more than a century. The first recorded institution devoted exclusively to the care of children in the province was the Alexandra Orphanage, founded in 1894 in VANCOUVER. The first child care centre was opened at Cambie and Pender streets, also in Vancouver, and operated from 1910 to 1932.
