CARELESS, Ric, environmental activist (b 1951, Toronto). As a student attending the UNIV OF VICTORIA in 1970, he launched a public campaign to halt LOGGING in the Nitinat Triangle, an area of ancient RAIN FOREST located inland from the WEST COAST TRAIL on southwestern VANCOUVER ISLAND.
