BUTEDALE is a North Coast SALMON CANNERY site on the east side of PRINCESS ROYAL ISLAND in the heart of the INSIDE PASSAGE. The cannery operated, under different owners, from 1909 to 1952. Until 1976 Butedale was a regular stop for coastal steamers, and during the 1960s it was the base for a UNITED CHURCH mission ship. Until the mid-1980s the site was a supply centre for passing pleasure boats, then it was abandoned.
