Burbot


BURBOT (Lota lota), also known as freshwater lingcod, is the only member of the order Gadiformes (482 species) that dwells in fresh water. The burbot is COD-like in appearance with a flat, pointed head that extends almost a quarter of the length of the fish. Its body is very narrow at the anterior (front) end.
