Bull River

BULL RIVER lies on the east shore of the KOOTENAY R, where it is joined by the Bull R 23 km east of CRANBROOK. It was the site of a major CPR SAWMILL and horse LOGGING operation from 1912 to 1928. Railway construction required huge volumes of timber, and the Bull R show was the largest in the BC Interior at the time. A hotel and a few houses are the only reminders of this era. The river was named after J. Bull, an early prospector.
