BAKER, Simon, Squamish leader (b Jan 1911, N Vancouver; d there 23 May 2001). The grandson of Joe CAPILANO, he grew up on the Capilano RESERVE in N VANCOUVER. After attending St George's RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL at LYTTON from 1918 to 1926, he worked as a fisher, then as a stevedore on the VANCOUVER waterfront from 1935 to 1976.
