BC Place Stadium

BC PLACE STADIUM in downtown VANCOUVER was the first covered stadium in Canada when it opened on 19 June 1983. Built at a cost of $126 million, it is home to the BC LIONS football team and is used for concerts, consumer shows and special events. The original roof was 60 m high and the stadium covers an area of 10 ha. With seating for 60,000 it was the world's largest air-supported domed stadium. In 2010-2011 the stadium was fitted with a new retractable roof.
