ACKERY, Ivor Frederick Wilson "Ivan," theatre manager (b 30 Oct 1899, Bristol, England; d 29 Oct 1989, Vancouver). He immigrated to VANCOUVER in 1914 to join his widowed mother. During WWI he enlisted in the Canadian army and saw action in France. His long career in show business began in 1921 in Calgary, where he had gone looking for work and where he took a job as a theatre usher.
