Yellow Point

Yellow Point (49˚02'00" 123˚45'00" W side of Stuart Channel, NE of Kulleet Bay, SE of Nanaimo, SE side of Vancouver I). The point is apparently named for the yellow stonecrop rock plants (Sedum species) that bloom along the shore in spring. It is the site of historic Yellow Point Lodge, founded in the mid-1930s by Gerry Hill. The original main lodge building burned down in 1985 but was rebuilt the following year. The popular resort was still operated by the Hill family in 2009.
