Wriglesworth Point


Wriglesworth Point (52˚44'00" 129˚18'00" W of Borrowman Bay, NW side of Aristazabal I). Joseph Wriglesworth (1841–1933), from Devon, England, came to Victoria in 1862 and set up in business as a grocer. He was a volunteer fireman in the 1860s and rose to become chief of Victoria’s Union Hook and Ladder Co No 1. Joseph married Sarah Elizabeth Wakefield (1855–1907), a native of Yorkshire who had come to Canada with her parents in 1859. He was elected a Victoria alderman, 1881–84. Later...
