Woodfibre


Woodfibre (49˚40'00" 123˚15'00" NW side of Howe Sd, S of Squamish, NW of Vancouver). A pulp mill opened here in 1912 at the mouth of Mill Ck, on the site of an old sawmill. It was originally known as the Mill Ck mill—and also appeared on early maps as Britannia West or Britannia West Landing. The Whalen Pulp & Paper Co bought the mill in 1917 and expanded it, adding more houses for workers and their families; the isolated site was served by steamship and, in the early days, by a small ferry...
