Williams Island


Williams Island (48˚57'00" 125˚16'00" N of the Broken Group and Sechart Channel, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named in 1950 after Mary Isabella Williams (b 1890, at Victoria), who received a Crown grant for the island in 1908. She was the daughter of pioneer Victoria stationer Robert T Williams, who came to Canada in 1859 and was the manager of the Victoria News Co in 1901. She married William Arthur Davis in 1912 at Oak Bay.
