Whalen Point


Whalen Point (53˚37'00" 130˚18'00" W side of McCauley I, W of Table Hill, Principe Channel, S of Prince Rupert). Flight Lt James Henry Whalen, DFC, of Vancouver, was killed in action on Apr 18, 1944, while flying Hawker Hurricane fighters with No 34 (RAF) Squadron. He had earlier served with No 411 and No 129 (Mysore) squadrons, where he flew Spitfires. Whalen was an RCAF air ace, with six German and Japanese kills to his credit.
