West Bay

West Bay (49˚20'00" 123˚13'00" N side of Burrard Inlet, E of Sandy Cove, W Vancouver). In 1929 this feature was officially named Patterson Cove, after pioneer Vancouver pilot Capt Donald Patterson (d 1913). The original local name, however, was West Bay, and this designation continued in popular use to such an extent that the new name had to be abandoned. West Bay was made official in 1953.
