Wells Islet


Wells Islet (53˚35'00" 130˚35'00" Off W side of Banks I, SW of Griffith Hbr), Wells Rocks (52˚45'00" 129˚29'00" W of Anderson Is, off NW side of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). John Wells (1890–1975) served aboard the W coast survey vessel Lillooet in the 1920s. He was coxswain of the starboard launch in 1921, when the islet was named, and was promoted to 1st officer in 1923. The rocks, previously known as the Gull Rks, were named for him about 1925.
