Wearmouth Rock


Wearmouth Rock (52˚53'00" 129˚08'00" Entrance to Surf Inlet, W side of Princess Royal I). Named by regional hydrographer Lt Cdr Philip Musgrave after Cecil Wylam Wearmouth (1880–1941), who was skipper of several GTP steamships that served the QCI in the 1910s. He was master of the Prince Albert in 1910–11, then took over the Prince John for several years. Wearmouth married Kate Brand (b 1892) at Prince Rupert in 1914.
