Turner Rock


Turner Rock (52˚36'00" 129˚08'00" At head of Clifford Bay, W side of Aristazabal I). Lance Cpl George Turner (1836–1919), from London, joined the Royal Engineers in 1855 and was posted to the Ordnance Survey of GB. In 1859 he came out to the PNW with the Columbia detachment, which served in BC until 1863, and worked in the survey office at the engineers’ camp in Sapperton.
