Tunstall Bay


Tunstall Bay (49˚21'00" 123˚25'00" SW side of Bowen I, Howe Sd, NW of Vancouver). George Christie Tunstall (1867–1950) was vice-president and one of the founders of Western Explosives Ltd, which built a dynamite factory at this location in 1909. Before that the bay had been a base for the Lipsett Whaling Co in the late 1860s, while the surrounding area, originally purchased by Joseph Mannion in 1885, had been owned by logging companies.
