Townsend Point


Townsend Point (52˚12'00" 128˚30'00" N end of Wurtele I, off W side of Athlone I, W of Bella Bella). Charlotte Townsend (1834–1929) arrived at Victoria in 1862 aboard the brideship Tynemouth, with her older sister Louisa, and worked briefly as a music teacher. In 1864, to the confusion of genealogists, she married an unrelated man with the same surname, Alfred Allatt Townsend (1817–84), who had come to BC from England in 1858 and worked as a hotel and saloon keeper.
