Torrance Islet


Torrance Islet (50˚55'00" 127˚33'00" W of Kent I, Walker Group, Queen Charlotte Str, N of Port Hardy). William Beveridge Torrance (1889–1965), born in Manitoba of Scottish heritage, pre-empted land in this area in 1914 and received a Crown grant in 1920. He had come as a child, in 1895, to the Comox district, where his parents, Mary Anne and Arthur Stewart Torrance, were pioneer farmers. William Torrance died at Golden. The feature was formerly known as Green I.
