Tomkinson Point


Tomkinson Point (53˚25'48" 128˚54'17" S entrance to Bishop Bay, E side of Ursula Channel, S of Hawkesbury I and Kitimat). Lt Edward Philip Tomkinson served on the BC coast, 1871–75, aboard HMS Boxer, under Lt Cdr William Collins. As part of their duties, the officers of the Boxer reported on inlets that might be suitable for a transcontinental railway terminus. In 1875, members of a CPR land survey team named a number of features on Ursula Channel after them.
