Sylvester Point

Sylvester Point (52˚38'00" 127˚02'00" W side of Dean Channel, NW of Bella Coola). John Berg Sylvester (1868–1923) was one of the intrepid Norwegian colonists who settled the Bella Coola valley in the mid-1890s. He received several Crown grants of land there, in 1901, 1903 and 1909, and married Karen Thorsen in 1921, only two years before he died. The point was named by the hydrographic service in 1958.
