Stone Island


Stone Island (49˚10'00" 125˚54'00" Just NE of Tofino, entrance to Lemmens Inlet, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Methodist missionary William John Stone (1864–1944) and his wife, Christina (1870–1950), both from Ont, came with their children to Clo-oose on the W coast of Vancouver I in 1894 and established a mission there. The family moved to Clayoquot in 1902. Stone was later (about 1910) head of the Clayoquot Liberal Assoc. Both he and his wife died at Victoria.
