Stewart (55˚56'00" 129˚59'00" Head of Portland Canal, on BC-Alaska boundary, N of Prince Rupert). Two prospector brothers from Victoria, Robert M and John W Stewart, settled at this location in 1902, just before a copper, gold and silver boom swept the area. They established the Stewart Land Co in 1906, laid out a townsite and had interests in several of the area’s mines.
