Stark Islet


Stark Islet (55˚25'00" 129˚45'00" W of Larcom I, Observatory Inlet, S of Stewart). After prospector and mining engineer John Edmund Stark (1860–1930), who was very active in this region through the first three decades of the 1900s. Stark’s parents were Louis and Sylvia Stark, perhaps the best known of the free blacks who came to BC from California in 1859 and formed a black community on Saltspring I, where John was born.
