Sparrowhawk Point


Sparrowhawk Point (53˚49'00" 130˚20'00" SE side of Porcher I, Ogden Channel, S of Prince Rupert), Sparrowhawk Rock (54˚31'00" 130˚28'00" Off S end of Finlayson I, Chatham Sd, SW of Port Simpson, NW of Prince Rupert). HMS Sparrowhawk, a steam-powered gunboat launched in 1856, saw service on the China Station before being based on the BC coast, 1865–68 under Cdr Edwin Porcher, and 1868–72 under Cdr Henry Mist.
