Spanish Pilot Group


Spanish Pilot Group (49˚38'00" 126˚35'00" SW of Bligh I, Nootka Sd, W side of Vancouver I). A pilot was an NCO rank in the 18th-century Spanish navy that roughly corresponded with the RN rank of master. Pilots were often highly trained and more than capable of running a ship and handling navigation and survey duties.
