Southey Bay (48˚56'00" 123˚36'00" N end of Saltspring I, Gulf Is), Southey Island (49˚17'00" 124˚06'00" NE of Nanoose Hbr and Wallis Point, NW of Nanaimo, off E side of Vancouver I), Southey Point (48˚57'00" 123˚36'00" N tip of Saltspring I). James Lowther Southey (d 1882) was secretary to Rear Adm Robert Baynes, who was cdr-in-chief on the Pacific Station, 1857–60, with HMS Ganges as his flagship.
