Snass Islands


Snass Islands (53˚53'00" 130˚32'00" Near entrance to Porcher Inlet, S side of Porcher I, S of Prince Rupert), Snass Point (53˚54'00" 130˚33'00" Just W of Snass Is, opposite Gurd I). Snass was the word for rain or wet in the Chinook jargon used on the W coast by First Nation groups and early traders and settlers. BC, appropriately, is also home to a Snass Ck, Snass Lk and Snass Mtn.
