Smokehouse Bay

Smokehouse Bay (48˚34'00" 123˚29'00" SW of Willis Point, SE side of Saanich Inlet, NW of Victoria). Former landowner Samuel Whittaker, who lived on the bay for three decades (see Whittaker Point), smoked fish there. The bay was apparently also known at one time as Whittaker Bay. The local name for the beach is Ricky’s Roost, after another former property owner in the area, a man named Rickerson, whose beach parties were well regarded.
