Smith Inlet


Smith Inlet (51˚19'00" 127˚25'00" Eastern extension of Smith Sd), Smith Sound (51˚18'00" 127˚40'00" Between Rivers Inlet and Queen Charlotte Str, SE side of Queen Charlotte Sd). Fur trader James Hanna gave the name Smith’s Inlet to what is now Smith Sd in 1786, during his second expedition to the PNW. It is therefore one of the oldest European place names on the BC coast.
