Skaiakos Point


Skaiakos Point (49˚36'00" 123˚49'00" W side of Sechelt Inlet, SW of mouth of Salmon Inlet, NW of Vancouver). The name refers to one of the subgroups of the Sechelt (Shíshálh) First Nation. Several versions of this word have been recorded, including Sqaiaqos and Klay-ah-kwohss, but the spelling Xíxus is preferred today. The Xíxus people traditionally occupied the coastal area between Lang Bay and Roberts Ck, with their main villages at Kálpilín (Pender Hbr) and Ch’átlich (Sechelt)....
