Skaga Island


Skaga Island (52˚41'00" 131˚23'00" E of Lyell I and Moresby I, Hecate Str, QCI), Skaga Point (54˚00'00" 132˚08'00" NE side of Masset Sd, just S of Masset, N end of Graham I, QCI). Skaga is an adaptation of the Haida First Nation word for a shaman or medicine man. Because of its patchy tree coverage, geologist George Mercer Dawson gave the name Tuft I to this feature in 1878.
