Shuttle Island


Shuttle Island (52˚40'00" 131˚42'00" In Darwin Sd, between E side of Moresby I and Lyell I, QCI), Shuttle Passage (Between Shuttle I and Lyell I), Shuttle Reef (52˚42'00" 131˚44'00" Just N of Shuttle I). Geologist George Mercer Dawson named Shuttle I in 1878 because its shape and position in Darwin Sd reminded him of a shuttle on a loom.
