Sherberg Island


Sherberg Island (50˚32'00" 127˚38'00" N of Drake I, Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). Ole Anderson Sherberg (1859–1931), from Norway, was a pioneer storekeeper and telegraph operator at Quatsino. He was a widower, and his original name, which he later changed, was Skjarberg. Ole and his sons Henry and Oliver were members of a group of Scandinavian colonists who came to settle on Quatsino Sd in 1894. He became a school trustee in 1899, opened his store in 1902 and sold out to Gus Moerman...
