Shadforth Islands


Shadforth Islands (53˚29'20" 130˚24'30" In Kingkown Inlet, NW side of Banks I). Named after Victoria resident and master mariner Percival Shadforth (1878–1946), who was born and raised in Durham, England, and went to sea at 16. He had his master’s papers by age 26, then immigrated to Canada, working at first for New Westminster steamship entrepreneur Capt E J Fader and then for the Consolidated Whaling Co of Victoria, as capt of the whaling tender Grey.
