Sewell Inlet


Sewell Inlet (52˚53'00" 131˚56'00" W side of Selwyn Inlet, E side of Moresby I, opposite Louise I, QCI), Sewell Point (52˚54'00" 131˚53'42" N entrance to Sewell Inlet). Sewell Inlet first appears on Admiralty charts in 1907, but the origin of the name seems to have been lost. Early newspapers referred to the site as Jewell Inlet. A government trail was cut to the head of the inlet in 1908, and several prospectors built cabins in the area during the pre-WWI QCI mining boom. Rayonier Ltd...
