Secord Rock


Secord Rock (50˚25'00" 125˚13'00" Cordero Channel, NW of Horn Point, off NE side of Sonora I, N of Campbell R). Probably named after Anderson Secord, who homesteaded at Amor Point on Bute Inlet in 1898 and moved to Stuart I in 1907. A note at BC’s Geographical Names Office states that he operated a “mercantile boat” for many years, serving tugboatmen and fishermen. He also appears as a fisherman himself in directories and on voters lists. Adopted by the hydrographic service in 1955....
