Seapool Rocks


Seapool Rocks (48˚49'00" 125˚12'00" SW end of Trevor Channel, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named in 1933 after the British freighter Seapool, which struck these rocks in the fall of 1928. This 4,121-tonne vessel, built in 1913, also struck an iceberg off Nfld in 1921 but made it safely to St John’s Hbr. It was renamed the Pilcot in 1936 and then sold to an Estonian shipping company in 1939. As the Vapper it was torpedoed and sunk by a U-boat in 1940. Formerly known as the Channel...
