Scudder Point


Scudder Point (52˚27'00" 131˚14'00" NE tip of Burnaby I, off SE side of Moresby I, QCI). Geologist George M Dawson named this feature in 1878. According to QCI historian Kathleen Dalzell, the word is an adaptation of the Haida name for the point, Skwaay Kun, which, in turn, was probably taken from the Haida word for Burnaby I, Skwaay Kungwa’i. A Haida village named Skwaay was once located just N of the point. D
