Scotch Fir Point


Scotch Fir Point (49˚44'00" 124˚16'00" N entrance to Jervis Inlet, Malaspina Str, SE of Powell R). Capt George Vancouver named this point in June 1792 because it was home to “the first Scotch firs we had yet seen.” Scotch fir is an old name for the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), a tree that grows only in Europe and northern Asia.
